MODI, THREE DAYS ON THE WING OF MADNESS to Screen on Festival’s Awards Night
BETTER MAN to Close Festival in MENA Premiere
The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) has announced that this year’s Awards Night Gala will be MODI, THREE DAYS ON THE WING OF MADNESS, the second directorial venture from Johnny Depp based on the life of legendary Italian artist Modigliani. In addition, innovative biopic of British singer Robbie Williams BETTER MAN from director, co-writer and co-producer Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) will close the festival in its final Gala Screening on 14th December.
MODI, THREE DAYS ON THE WING OF MADNESS is directed by actor and director Johnny Depp, and is a personal and universal tale of art, love and rejection told during a whirlwind seventy-two hours in the life of bohemian artist Modigliani. The Red Sea Film Foundation supported the film through its International Film Financing label which focuses on investment in commercially and creatively exciting projects from global talent. Red Sea International Film Financing projects also provide aspiring Saudi Arabian filmmakers with educational opportunities to enhance their craft through Red Sea Labs’ inaugural “On Set” programme. As the pilot production for the programme, MODI, THREE DAYS ON THE WING OF MADNESS welcomed interns to set for a hands-on training experience across various departments including Art, Camera, and Production.
Innovative biopic BETTER MAN portrays the life of iconic Take That heartthrob Robbie Williams in the form of a chimpanzee, tracing his career from boy band to lounge singer, star to tabloid tragic and back to star again. The film uses groundbreaking hyper-expressionate motion-capture technology to portray Williams through a CGI monkey in the lead role, and garnered critical acclaim at screenings in Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals earlier this year.
The Festival is supported by Principal Sponsors: Visit Saudi, MBC, and Genesis Mohamad Yusuf AlNaghi; Official Sponsors: Film AlUla, SRMG, Chopard, SAUDIA, and TikTok; Strategic Sponsors of the Red Sea Souk: NEOM and Cultural Development Fund; and Support Sponsors Nova, Mermaid and Telfaz.
