BETTER MAN

Director: Michael Gracey

Singer Robbie Williams, the one-time cheeky star of the boy band Take That, often said that he felt like a performing monkey for his whole creative life. Director Michael Gracey, best known for The Greatest Showman, duly represents Williams as a monkey in this sensational biopic. It is an outrageous idea, but it works. Williams himself voices the monkey, but his involvement does not mean his tabloid-fodder life of fame, disgrace, humiliation and ultimate resurgence gets watered down. We see it all: the bad behavior, his terrible boyfriend instincts, being a neglectful son and an unbearable workmate. But by highlighting his trademark humor, compelling honesty and irresistible showmanship, Robbie trumps again. There is also a slew of great pop songs to sing-a-long to.

In-Conversation with Eiza González

Director:

Eiza González is a Mexican actress and singer known for her captivating performances in Hollywood and international cinema. Rising to fame with her breakout roles in Mexican soap operas, she quickly transitioned to global recognition with standout performances in films like the Oscar-nominated Baby Driver, Golden Globe-winner I Care a Lot and recently Emmy nominated 3 Body Problem, amongst many others, while being in the top ten 2024 most popular celebrities on IMdbPro in 4th place. With her versatility and magnetic screen presence, Eiza has become a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, celebrated for breaking barriers and representing Latin talent on the global stage.

SAIFY

Director: Wael Abu Mansour

At 40 years old, Saify Muhammed is a washed-up confidence trickster who owes money to everyone, including his ex-wife. Now he is trying his hand at blackmail. The year is 2000; Saify has a dilapidated music shop selling cassette tapes, including recordings of banned Islamic sermons he mistakenly thinks will turn an illicit profit. His sermon supplier is Al-Mahdi, shady religious advisor to the local bigwig Sheikh Asaad Aman, who has a name as a philanthropist. When Saify finds one tape containing a scandalous recording of the influential Sheikh Asaad, he thinks he’s finally in the money.
