Saman Hosseinpuor was born in Saqez in Kurdistan, Iran. At 14, he started acting in theater and writing stories. At 15, he started making short films; his first effort won a silver medal for directing at Qasedek National Film Festival. He went on to study cinematography, while also contributing to making over 30 short film projects in different capacities. He now makes films full-time.
Ako was born in Sanandaj in Iranian Kurdistan in 1993. Like Saman Hosseinpuor, who would by 2018 be his professional partner and co-director, he started making films when he was 15. This was the start of a passion for cinema that would lead him to pursue a degree in cinema.. He has received more than 50 awards from international film festivals for his films.

Far from his own homeland, a Kurdish refugee lives out of his suitcase. In it, he carries memories of his family. When someone steals the suitcase in the tumult of a foreign city centre, he loses his home a second time.
