Two intrepid sisters, Juliette (4) and Carmen (8), discover a passage that leads to the extraordinary world of their favorite book, the Kingdom of the Air Streams. Transformed into cats and separated from each other, the girls will have to be bold and daring to find their way back to each other and, with the help of a singer called Selma, to their real world. Their greatest fear is confronting Sirocco, the master of winds and storms - but is he as terrifying as everyone thinks? Visually stunning, this animation will beguile.

HOLES

Director: Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan

Rakan and his wife Rim are looking for an apartment to rent instead of living with his aged mother. It seems they have found the right spot, except for the hole in the wall that looks as if someone bashed it with a hammer. Rakan seems strangely unengaged, however, barely speaking to his wife. Gradually, as we slip from present to past, we piece together the story that explains his barrage of unwanted calls, chance encounters with shady characters and outbreaks of violence. When his mother’s home is burgled and she is attacked, he is confronted by the person he least wants to see.

In-Conversation with Michael Douglas

Director: Michael Kirk Douglas

Celebrating over 50 years of experience in theatre, film and television, Michael Douglas became a renowned actor starring in the hit television series, The Streets of San Francisco, earning him three Emmy nominations for his leading role. Transitioning into independent film production, Douglas secured the rights to the critically acclaimed One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975), which won five Academy Awards including Best Picture. Known for his keen ability to select impactful and provocative projects that reflect changing trends and public concerns, Douglas has been involved in influential films such as The China Syndrome (1979) and Traffic (2000), along with box-office hits like Romancing the Stone (1984) and Fatal Attraction (1987).

SANTOSH

Director: Sandhya Suri

When Santosh’s husband, a policeman in a rural district in North India, is killed in a riot, the widow can only keep their home if she takes his job. Eager to succeed, she shows more determination than is usual among the misogynist male police when a low-caste girl is reported missing and then turns up dead. A charismatic senior woman officer, Inspector Sharma, is duly drafted in to head the murder investigation, becoming Santosh’s mentor. Success for women, however, generally means showing they can bend the rules as flagrantly as the men, where survival always comes at huge personal cost. A fascinating police procedural, focusing on the relationships within the force rather than crimes or culprits, the film is an investigation into deep-rooted systemic corruption.

6 AM

Director: Mehran Modiri

Sarah is leaving Teheran for three years to study for her doctorate in Canada. Her flight is at 6 am. After an emotionally fraught final dinner with her family, she heads to an impromptu farewell party at her friend Farida’s apartment, intending to go straight to the airport afterwards. That plan implodes, however, when the morality police swoop in. Drinks are emptied, musical instruments hidden and women put on their overcoats, while Sarah is seized with terror that they will all be arrested – and she, of course, will miss her plane. Mehran Modiri, Iran’s popular satirist, who also has a chilling cameo as a police hostage negotiator, proves here that he is just as at home with a nail-biting drama.
