In contemporary Ethiopia, a severe drought is driving an entire community of farmers into a miserable exodus from their traditional lands. While Tessema is considering leaving with his family, his father dies in an accident. The family agrees to leave after the patriarch is buried, but Tessema is stopped in his tracks when his father’s body goes missing from the grave. The local priest tries to explain away the disappearance as divine intervention, but Tessema refuses to accept that truth. Instead, he begins his own investigation, retracing his father’s last steps.
