Clint (Willem Dafoe) is a broken man. Hoping for peace, he retreats to a remote mountain cabin to seek serenity in isolation. In this winter landscape, he runs a modest cafe, visited only occasionally by a rare traveler or native of the region.

Even isolation cannot offer peace to this damaged man. Desperate for an escape from himself, he sets out on a journey by dogsled, through harsh landscapes and into the terrain of the self.

Returning to the world he once knew requires first traveling through dreams, memory, and imagination in an attempt to find and reconcile with his true nature.

The return of an extraordinary director-actor relationship, as Abel Ferrara joins forces once again with his acting alter ego, Willem Dafoe.
