After the captivating 2018 concept-horror, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) return in their post-apocalyptic world of silence, this time to face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the blind creatures that hunt by sound and who have killed much of the world’s population are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
As in Part I, the film swaps cheap jumps for an abiding atmosphere of existential dread. The tense sequel to the 2018 horror hit confirms John Krasinski’s talent as a genre director, working with cinematographer Polly Morgan to create one of the year’s horror sensations.
An enthralling film about defeat in the face of impossible odds, and the determination to go on despite it all.
