The Iranian cinema censors are racked with confusion by new regulations about what is acceptable to show on national television. A complex and combative exchange at the broadcaster’s office about what to do with this film could be read as a coded argument over much deeper ruptures in this black comedy. Should they cut, blur out, or leave in previously prohibited scenes? At least they can promise “fantastic visuals” from the iceberg. And that nothing like this – whatever “this” will be - has been seen on national TV before.
