WE LIVE IN TIME

Director: John Crowley

Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield bring humour and exceptional personal chemistry to this compelling tale of love, marriage, and heartache. The movie's unique feature is that the narrative skips back and forth in time across a decade so that we absorb all of their lives – highs, lows, romance and parenthood – as a jigsaw puzzle that helps us understand their decisions in the different phases of their relationship. It's a real tearjerker that shows how ambitious chef Almut meets Tobias, a data cruncher whose marriage has just ended, and then they fall in love and have to cope with all the hurdles put in front of them. When Almut decides to enter a high-stakes cooking championship the tension between them boils over.

SEEKING HAVEN FOR MR. RAMBO

Director: Khaled Mansour

Hassan, his mother and his beloved dog Rambo are threatened with eviction by their landlord Karem, a car mechanic who wants to use their house to expand his workshop. Rising tensions culminate in a street fight between Karem and Hassan, settled by Rambo when he leaps in and bites Karem in the crotch. Humiliated, Karem promises bloody revenge. Thus begins Hassan’s search for a safe haven for his friend, a journey that will take him into the city’s underbelly, but also into the heart of his own fears, changing him forever. Sparked by a real incident, this is a film about the strong relationship between a man and his dog and a nuanced reflection on everyday violence.

TASTE THE REVOLUTION

Director: Daniel Klein

For nearly 25 years one of Oscar winner's Mahershala Ali's earliest, craziest and most brilliant performances has been hiding in a vault. Director Daniel Klein shot a film in the year 2000 about a group of revolutionaries putting on a world summit to counter political apathy and encourage America to stand up to capitalism but then world events got in the way and the film vanished. Now, after a call from Ali, who plays a revolutionary leader, the director has gone back over the footage and reimagined the film as a mockumentary about a documentary film crew trying to capture an event that they hope will be a modern-day Woodstock, but turns out to be more Fyre Festival.

TALES ON THE BANKS OF THE BOSPHORUS

Director: Zeina Sfeir

Stories and tales that have spread to over 150 countries worldwide, exploring themes of lost love, the foundations of life and family, and human stories devoid of "superheroes," were filmed in beautiful Turkish cities with brilliant stars who have won the hearts of viewers: this is the Turkish drama, known as "dizi." Today, the "dizi" genre is considered among the most successful series, enjoying immense popularity across the Arab world and as far away as South America and Africa. The question arises: how has an industry from a country with little foothold in distribution and filming in a minority language managed to achieve such rapid and extensive global reach? Through interviews on set with directors, producers, distributors, and stars, we uncover the secrets behind the success and behind-the-scenes stories of this drama.
