Red Sea Film Foundation Presents The Fourth Edition Of The 48hr Film Challenge

The Red Sea Film Foundation, in collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Jeddah, the Embassy of France in Saudi Arabia, and Alliance Française have announced the fourth edition of the 48-Hour Film Challenge, aimed at fostering the talents of aspiring filmmakers in Saudi Arabia.  

This challenge is open to all aspiring filmmakers in the Kingdom, both Saudis and Saudi residents aged 18-25. The participants will undergo two days of intensive online technical workshops and mentorship, including a filmmaking workshop with Saudi director Faris Godus, a production workshop with Jordanian producer and script consultant Deema Azar, a script writing and editing workshop with Jordanian filmmaker Amjad Alrasheed.

Following the workshops, the teams will embark on a thrilling race against the clock, making a film from idea to edit within 48 hours.  In addition, the French Consulate will offer 15 shortlisted team members two days of professional workshops in Jeddah and Riyadh with experts from France and Saudi Arabia. The professional workshops will include screenings of short films and discussions about the industry.

Two winners will be chosen by a jury composed of world-renowned filmmakers and film professionals, The jury will seek to honor and reward cinematic work presented at the 48-Hour Film Challenge that breaks new ground and encourages Saudi and regional filmmaking. 

The two winning team leaders will be rewarded with a residency at the International Short Films Festival in Clermont-Ferrand (France) in 2025 organised by the French Consulate in Jeddah.  

The winning films will also be shown in the next edition of the Red Sea IFF in December 2024.
