What films do you accept?

Feature or medium length narrative, documentary, animation films and immersive projects (including AR/VR) from around the world are accepted.

The festival only accepts short films made by Arab and Saudi filmmakers. The festival does not accept international short films.

How long is a feature film?

Anything over 60 mins with credits.

How long is a short film?

Any film that is less than 60 mins with credits.

What premiere status is required?

We require an Arab region premiere for films featuring our In Competition section. We encourage Arab regional premieres for films in other sections.

The Tajreeb section has no premiere status requirements. Films of any length and premiere status is eligible for the Tajreeb section.

Do you accept more than one film for the same director?

Yes, we do accept more than one film by the same director.

How old should the film be from the time of the festival?

A film must be made between March 2019 and March 2020.

What are the program sections?

Please refer to the programming page on our website.

The festival reserves the decision of which section or competition to screen films in.

What formats do you accept?

Vimeo links only. We only accept DVD or download link in special circumstances.

When are we notified?

All films will be notified if they are selected or not by Jan 2020.

Do you accept rough cuts?

We encourage films that are at the fine cut stage at least. Sound and color mix are not necessary at the submission stage.

Do you accept scripts?


Can we replace the link with an updated cut?

The festival will be in touch if we require an updated version of the film.

Can I change the password?

Yes, but please notify us as soon as possible.
