A family moves to the Norwegian forest for the summer with their two children, autistic Anna and her frustrated younger sister Ida. When Ida wanders off, she discovers that the estate is full of children with supernatural powers. Containing elements of William Golding's Lord of the Flies, “The Innocents” questions the nature of good and evil, pondering whether it is inherited, the work of the devil, or something learned. Vogt's ambiguous narrative makes all of these conclusions possible.
