Mona Lisa (Jeon Jong-seo), a young woman with psychokinetic powers, breaks out of a Louisiana asylum and makes her way to neon-lit New Orleans, where she slips easily into the city’s netherworld of misfits and miscreants. Trashy new friend Bonnie (a superb Kate Hudson), a single mother and pole dancer, enlists her to rob a few men she thinks had it coming; the police, along with some furious victims, are soon in pursuit. A crazy ride inspired by ‘90s popular adventures and with a killer soundtrack, this is another celebration of outsiders from the dazzlingly stylish Iranian-American director Ana Lily Amirpour.
