Kaung Swan Thar
A Myanmarese filmmaker who studied history at East Yangon University in 2019, but his desire to use images to tell stories drew him to photography. In 2020, he started training in filmmaking at Yangon Film School. He is also an alumnus of the Yangon Photo Festival.

A first film from an emerging Myanmar filmmaker, this short documentary unobtrusively observes a group of boat wreckers at work on the banks of the Yangon River in Dala, the final port of call for many old boats. The work is hazardous, back-breaking and pitifully paid. The camera shows how the boat wreckers work furiously tearing up these hulks under a blazing sun, often with their bare hands — a heartbreaking look at exploitation.
