Adil and Bilall are best known for directing the sequel Bad Boys for Life, and one can only imagine that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence struggled to compete on-set with Adil and Bilall on the charm and humour front. We’ll witness the amazing chemistry of the best young European filmmakers on stage at the Red Sea IFF, where the directors talk about their rollercoaster career that has taken them from Brussels to Hollywood. Their latest film, the extraordinary Rebel, is playing at the Red Sea IFF. The Belgium-born directors met while studying film in Brussels. They shared a Moroccan heritage, a love of popular movies, and a desire to tell different stories. In 2011, they made their first short film together, Brother, but it was their film Black (2015) which made the world sit up and take notice. A story inspired by Romeo + Juliet about gangsters who fall in love caused debate in Belgium. They followed this up by directing the first two episodes of TV series Snowfall. By the time they directed their next film Gangsta, they were in huge demand. Bad Boys for Life was a huge hit. Earlier this year at Cannes came the superb Rebel, a thought-provoking tale of brothers who venture to war-torn Syria that is part war film, part musical.
